Service tool for removal and installation of rear aprilia rear suspension linkage "dog-bone" bearings. The tool can also be used to remove the suspension linkage bearings from the swingarm, which are the same size.
The tool is suitable for all aprilia motorcycles with the suspension linkage bearings with part number AP8110065. These bearings are 18 x 24 x 12mm (ID, OD, width) and typically designated HK1812 or HV1812. This is the vast majority of aprilia sports and touring motorcycles form 1998 Gen 1 to present, including RSV, RSV4, Tuono, Tuono V4 and many others.
The tool consists of 3 main parts:
1. Bearing removal tool.
2. Bearing installation tool.
3. M12 high-tensile steel drive bolt.
In order to use the tool, a 24 or 26mm socket with 1/2" drive is required to act as a bearing cup to allow the 2 bearings to be pushed out of the linkage and for installation of the new bearings.
A key feature of the installation tool is a relief to precisely fit the bearings allowing space for the bearing seal. Simpy wind the tool into the stop and the bearing will be perfectly seated. No need to measure and no risk of pushing the bearing too deep into the linkage.
Use of this tool eliminates risk of damage to the linkage dog-bone when removing old bearings or damage to the new bearings by hammering with random sockets.
